Are you, how you say, le jealous?
7 Tickets in my hand for tomorrow's Game!! Too bad the recluse Ryan can't score a date for it.
If I only liked sports. .. Should still be fun though.
"Thanks to good people I have shoes and clothes,"
Why is it that mostly we only get the urge to help those under extreme circumstances? .. I don't know about you, but I do. Yet there are so many other's in need the same type of help that aren't such celebrity. (clicking the pic will lead you to the article)
Digsby FTW!
I use a lot of IM clients. Both for work and what little social life I have. Googletalk, MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, and Skype. .. That's a lot of chat clients to be running all separately. I've tried Trillian, and just never really liked how it didn't integrate enough with the clients. I couldn't send files, sms's, emails or make Internet calls from it. AND it made me PAY! I never thought it was worth forking out some monies for.
Welcome Digsby. This FREE app is absolutely beautiful! Currently, I'm connected to my yahoo, msn, gmail, icq and aim IM networks. It also connects to any email account POP or IMAP as well as Facebook and Myspace. It's interface is fast and not in my face, uses tabbed communication windows so I dont have a thousand different IM windows up and I can drag and drop tabs in and out of tabbed windows to separate convos. The Developer support is truely amazing as well. They make many updates and keep you aware of any issue that you may or may not be having with a simple system message and on their blog. Needless to say, I'm very impressed.
It doesn't have support for Skype or voice over IP for phone calls, but I can send emails, files and sms. It's a great start for a very confusing problem. It actually improves productivity because you don't have to go to a browser for mail of for the lame social network checkups.
meebo is another great
resource to use for your IM needs. It's 100% webbased so you can use it on
anyone's computer without having to install crap. It's VERY handy.
Happy Belated New Year!
A whole month without a wootious Post!? Sheesh. I don't even have an excuse. However, I did get off the couch this last month! .. not very often, but more often than usual.
The Holidays were calm, nothing to report on there.
Got up to the mountain and went snow boarding with some close friends of mine.. I handled all of 3 runs before almost dying of exhaustion. .. sad, but it felt like I'd just came out of a coma and hit the slopes.. holy atrophy! It was tons of fun though.
I've been diving heavily into politics as I usually enjoy doing, you'd think I would have posted some rant posts about it like I have done in the past.. but nada. I'm sure I will soon enough. I whimsically started a political collaboration/rant site that I probably won't follow through on (just like saveTEHpolarbear.com), but it could be a fun distraction if I can get some contrasting people to submit some posts. It's called STFUpolitics.org (Shut The Friend Up).![]()
I even went to a Jazz game this last Saturday! Despite my view on how sports are stupid, it was still fun.
Well, I'm back. I've even been gaming more often.. imagine that! Look for the usual few posts a week to continue on with my struggle of RL vs VL vs Single Life.
The Google 15
Last Friday, a couple of us in the office were noticing our guts and how fat we were getting. Out of the blue one cowoker (Remy) suggested a weight loss competition. Rules are 5$ and whoever looses the most % bodyweight in a month's time, get's the pot. We weigh in 3 times a week after a morning priorities meeting. Since i'm way to heavy for a skinny dude i'm stoked to have some sort of motivation. .. Anyway, since there were no rules, i chugged 5 bottles of water prior to the weigh in.. and holy CRAP I'm struggling. My gut is huge and full of cold water, the rest of my body is sweating trying to warm up the gut. My eyes feel like they're going to swell and pop out of my thick skull. But hey, it added 5 whole pounds!
I'm tracking it all on my igoogle page using this pluggin. .. stay tuned for a thinner me! (prolly not since I'm such a lazy bum). Hopefully I don't die of water toxicity today.
Ways to Save Teh Polar Bears from Drowning #1
The Buddy System!
A Friend/Coworker had these cute little twin girls a short time ago .. well, technically his wife did [<:o)] Congrats guys!
They're already doing their part to Save TEH Polar Bear from drowning! Stick with the buddy system bears and girls!
Amazon and Cheap Presidents FTW!
So anyone who knows me, knows that I'm quite the freak when it comes to deals and shopping on the internets. It's no stretch to say that over 90% of everything I own was bought through the grid. Sometimes you can find some pretty awesome deals out there. And sometimes you can find some pretty odd ones. I spotted an odd deal Tuesday from one of my many sources on the web.
I couldn't help it. I mean c'mon! A talking George Dubya doll for $3? Everyone needs one of these things! Since I have Amazon Prime on my account due to a generous Brother of mine.. I didn't think twice. So I scored me some presidents on the Cheap. Now my Cube is even more the playground. .. Maybe the Presidents will be the target of the Nerf guns now. .. Since somehow my cube is where all the ammo tends to land. .. Or would that be a Federal Offense of some sort?
PS: I've allowed Anon commenting again. Hopefully the 3 digit captcha code isn't too much of a hassle for you if you feel the need to drop a comment from now on.
There’s a Bunch of People Dancing and I Don’t Know Why
the net is lame. I tried to post this vid earlier by uploading it to revver.com (like the ze vids below) so that it was quicker than me hosting it myself. It got denied. here's what they said:
Dear Ryan,
When a video shows people dancing then the music is integral to the
video. Because Revver pays content contributors, this is considered a
commercial use. Therefore, any uncleared commercial music in your
video is not acceptable for our platform. We do like your video, so
perhaps you can replace the music with royalty-free tracks. In our FAQs
you'll find a list of some sites offering royalty-free music --
http://one.revver.com/go/faq
-- but there are definitely other options.
Thank you for understanding.
... You've got to be kidding me.. that video is HORRIBLE. Is the music even audible? (horrid vid, but i had to compress it for youtube to load it 'cause of bandwidth issues)
Anyway, I did get to relax a little last weekend. I should have left the cam on Yasmin at least a little bit. But she gets annoyed at me when i take pictures of her.
This next weekend should include another fun flight around Jo'burg. I guess i'll have to make sure the camera is charged up.
Shutdown Day?
I honestly don't know if i can do this.. I actually may try it. .. although, I really don't see the point.
| It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope? |
|
| Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate! |
|
| Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer? |

Flickr = Lame
Flickr is was such a cool site. A fun place where people post their pics to the world. ..
But now, it's SO SLOW. It's dead. I don't even go there anymore. Once Yahoo bought it the speed of that place sucks.
sorry, I just had to vent, I saw a sweet pic of Tokyo at night, but dont have the patience to wait for the page to load.
lame.
UPDATE: Firefox = LAME not Flickr... loading the page in IE is fast as always.. but firefox blows.. must be one of the kagillian plugins i have installed...
