The World is ENDING!!!

(Not really) .. sorry, this qualifies for a TLDR comment. .. I'm posting it anyway.

Happy Monday! So many things to rant about in the last month. Indeed so many that I've not ranted on any. Why? I dunno. Life. Good things are happening around me. My family continues to prove their awesome, life doesn't suck as I still have a decent job and things are overwhelmingly well when I stop to think about other life's I've seen.

Again, so why have I not been posting? I dunno. Like a wise one once said: "When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead." True story. (Again, I dunno. I'm just fine, really.)

THE STOCK MARKET AND THE WORLD IS CRASHING!!! IT'S THE WORSTEST AND GREATEST(greatest, as in the worst thing ever)  DEPRESSION!! Didn't you hear? Good, 'cause it's pretty much bunk. You will be OK. .. I promise. The world isn't ending (yet). Alarmism really peeves me. Like, it's good to alarm a neighbor that his house is burning down, that his zipper was left undone, that he ran over your poodle while backing out of the garage, etc. .. But seriously, WTFetch is up with the ridiculous end of the world claims that the news keeps on with?? We're still not in a recession .. and how long has everyone been talking about the word recession? (too long)

I'm no statistician, and I remain a staunch believer in the fact that math is hard. Seriously though, 1 week of panic, and the world markets are in shambles?!

Weaksauce.

WTFetch, Let's give HUGE bundles of cash to greedy companies who take advantage of the average idiotic Joe who bites more than he can chew and completely ignore the concept of RESPONSIBILITY!

Sure the banks and market love the money, and the retarded government wants to feel like it's actually done something by approving a bill that's full of ridiculous earmarks and pork for their own greed. .. At least the idiots you voted into office get what they want out of the deal.

Fact is, we're in the current sitch because we put ourselves there. Gov money won't do anything but freak the market out more because of the threats of gov interventions to business. Banks AND the dumb consumers need to be held responsible for their own decisions, not the tax paying public.

Bankruptcy and forclosures for the irresponsible is the answer. Throwing government money at it only makes us responsible types more pissed at the government for wasting our tax monies.

.. I'll try to keep my rants shorter.. sry.

I hear you. Recession talkers sound exactly like Charlie Brown's teacher to me lately.

I'm just glad you watch How I Met Your Mother.

Except that don't you think Marshall is lamer than lame this season? Lamer than lame. And he's fat, too. Not that fat isn't awesome.

I don't know that we aren't in a recession, maybe that word is being used improperly. But stuff is going on, can we agree on that? I know that when I go to lunch the prices have gone up, at the pump gas went way up and then came down a little. My salary goes up a tiny bit each year, but doesn't even keep up with the cost of living. I know I know, this isn't anyone's fault and I can just get a new job. So whether this is a recession, depression, contraception, or whatever; stuff is happening, things are going on, life doesn't seem the same. Inflation always happens, you can never make as much money as you want, but you still get by. It isn't "The End Of Teh Worlds" like some people say, but it does feel different to me. And maybe it is in part due to the media and the town criers and nutjob bloggers freaking people out, but just because people are freaking out about something that may or may not be happening doesn't mean those people are any less freaked out.

I totally don't know where I'm going with this. I guess I'm some kind of middle ground. I don't think it is the end of the world, but I don't think it is nothing at the same time. I am very disappointed that the Gov. is bailing out the irresponsible retards. That just doesn't seem like it is fair or just. There is a remake of the Pledge of Allegience by NOFX that is very anti-gov, but one line pops to mind. "With Liberty for Just Us, Not All."

Really good points.

Basically, it's trends. It is different, but you can't always have an up trend. Sometimes it has to drop. Statistically, you're still going in the right direction if you zoom out enough, but it boils down to trends, they happen.

(BTW, the definition of a recession is two consecutive quarters with zero or negative growth) We haven't hit that yet. .. Yet being the key word there.
