I use a lot of IM clients. Both for work and what little social life I have. Googletalk, MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, and Skype. .. That's a lot of chat clients to be running all separately. I've tried Trillian, and just never really liked how it didn't integrate enough with the clients. I couldn't send files, sms's, emails or make Internet calls from it. AND it made me PAY! I never thought it was worth forking out some monies for.
Welcome Digsby. This FREE app is absolutely beautiful! Currently, I'm connected to my yahoo, msn, gmail, icq and aim IM networks. It also connects to any email account POP or IMAP as well as Facebook and Myspace. It's interface is fast and not in my face, uses tabbed communication windows so I dont have a thousand different IM windows up and I can drag and drop tabs in and out of tabbed windows to separate convos. The Developer support is truely amazing as well. They make many updates and keep you aware of any issue that you may or may not be having with a simple system message and on their blog. Needless to say, I'm very impressed.
It doesn't have support for Skype or voice over IP for phone calls, but I can send emails, files and sms. It's a great start for a very confusing problem. It actually improves productivity because you don't have to go to a browser for mail of for the lame social network checkups.
meebo is another great
resource to use for your IM needs. It's 100% webbased so you can use it on
anyone's computer without having to install crap. It's VERY handy.
