Worst Monday EVAH!!

Ok, so maybe not the worst Monday. But HOLY frick’n
cow today bites.  Let me premise today’s suckage with the weekend affairs.
(i’ll try and make it quick and painless mmmkay?)

Ryan had this HOT date!
ya know, and. ... ahahahahahah i had you there huh?.. ... no? Okay, you're
right. But thanks for the pause, that almost made me think you thought i could actually
get a date, hot or not. .. but not really. You knew it was a joke right as you
read it. You jerk.

Back to the true story:

Ryan is heading up yet another Data Conversion for his
client in an undisclosed location. i’ve had a lot of the processes streamlined
so that it doesn’t take as much time and the conversion process itself is far
more effective.  So i’m thinking that this time the conversion itself
should be much less painful than the past 35 plus hours that past conversions
ran.

Start time:
Thursday morning MST.

Anticipated completion time: Friday morning. Worst case scenario: Late Friday
night.  

Thursday: blah blah blah (insert whatever techno mumbo shiz here) the
pre-conversion programs and validation ends up taking until around 4-5
PM.  Actual Conversion programs started around 6 or so.  Around 10PM i
notice one of the programs is taking longer than expected, call a programmer
get it resolved and restarted by 10:30ish. it runs until 12:30AM Friday.

Friday: i wake up every couple hours  from 12:30 on to check
processes and make sure all is well. .. all wasn’t well. Another process froze
up on me. it’s not resolved until 11:30 AM Friday, and i continue on with the
rest of the conversion programs until 8 or so in the afternoon. All that i have
left is to run the last program that disperses the data from the central
location where it’s been worked on to it’s proper markets. … this is only 3
hours until power is supposed to be out in the server location for an expected
24 hours. i deem it not prudent to take the risk of starting the dispersal
being that it takes much longer than 3 hours to complete. SWEET! I can actually
get some sleep!

Saturday: Yay! No work during my day! i can do laundry, clean up,
think about going out for a bit (it never gets farther than a thought though)
until around midnight.  When midnight rolls around i will start the last
program, babysit it through the night, and finish all my data validation
through my Sunday. Still plenty of time to have it ready for the client to see
on their Monday morning. (8 hours ahead of MST)

Sunday: … The server doesn’t respond at midnight. Hrmm prolly just
a delay in the power being turned back on.  i set an alarm to go off every
2 hours so i can check and not lose any more time than already lost. … still
nothing @10am. i continue to check and get a hold of the client to see what’s
up, turns out that i couldn’t get into the server until almost midnight.

Monday: Finally around 2:30 AM this morning i get access to the
box, and start the dispersal. i keep awake every 2 hours to babysit it through
the night. i wake up for an early morning Conference call with the client,
check the processes. i’m almost done!!

Shower, iron my shirt and pants,
head to the office and get on the call. i then boot up my lappy, log back into
the server only to find the process had been killed. … So i start it again.
This time making sure to watch it.

… anyway. It died again on me about an hour ago. and i don’t
have access to the box right now. i can’t even ping the sucker.  i’m
tired. i’m really perturbed. *bleeping* Karma hates me.  looks like another long night for me.

What an exciting weekend.. not wootious at all. And no wooties for today, that's fo shizle. Mondays suck.

Wootious Server Problems

As you may have noticed, lately it seems wooties has been
having some issues. I’m running it off of a 5 year old beast of a computer from
my house and it seems to always have problems with random lockups and reboots.
I’ll be working a little on it this weekend so that wooties is a bit more
stable. So expect it to be down  at
random times.

But come back and check up on it will ya?
